The karabela Saber is a Polish sabre, kept in pristine condition within a shrine raised to John III Sobieski, King of Poland and the victor of the Battle of Vienna. It is a thing of no small historical worth — a short sword withal, and one that carries magic, a +1 enhancement upon it — so that it is at once a relic of the past and an object to quicken a collector's eye. The sabre was taken up once the glass of its case was broken, in company with a Malkoç Family Banner and a treatise from the hand of Radu the Handsome.
It was found amongst other family heirlooms in a cabinet room, and betrayed no immediate magic nor curse upon the handling. Yet its value was seen to reach beyond mere antiquity: Jean-Zera Mongé set a sketch of the karabela Saber into a letter to Giannis, marking its weight in their treasure-hunting affairs. The sword formed part of a hoard the company recovered, which held besides other magical items and artifacts touching the history of the Church and the line of Vlad and of Radu's father.
That the sabre is knit into these figures and their doings only deepens its allure, binding it alike to the Polish crown and to the troubled history of Eastern Europe.
