Radu
Radu the Handsome is a ghostly figure of ethereal presence, a spectral thing bound, it would seem, to the life he once led. He gave the company his thanks for the freeing and the subsequent destruction of his brother, a Vampire, an act that has lifted the burden from him and freed him at last to depart the place where he was held.
Addressing the party, Radu thanked them for their pains and gestured toward a Bound Casket in the room, allowing that the remains within it ought to be dealt with, and reassuring them that no lingering threat remained in his brother's phylactery or coffin. His parting words carried a note of relief before he vanished away, a peaceful going-forth from the mortal realm. Radu is associated besides with a Turkish treatise upon military tactics, discovered by the company in a Private Library — a thing that marks his historical significance.
Radu is bound to a lineage tied to the Church and to his father, Vlad. He is linked to artifacts of real historical worth, older than the Janissaries and much coveted by collectors, so that his background runs through events of no small consequence; and his name comes up in the weighing of what his family's past may mean for the political tensions of the present. Various factions, the Ghost of March among them, are reckoned in relation to Radu's line and its possible bearing upon dealings with such parties, and his connexion to Osman is likewise noted as the risks of these relationships are assessed — the whole of it a proof of how Radu's family history presses upon the company's actions.
Radu's part in the group's strategic counsels is a weighty one, touching as it does upon the need to navigate a difficult ground whilst reckoning with his family's legacy and the consequences of their own deeds in the undercity and beyond. Of late his insights have grown the more vital still, for as the company faces mounting tensions they find themselves leaning upon his knowledge of history to guide their decisions through a swiftly shifting political landscape.
