Of late Hano has come to be associated with a bounty touching an undead thing that chooses its prey with unwholesome care. She has been settling the terms of that bounty, brokering the deals and the exchanges within the Undercity, and standing as the point of contact for any who would take the matter in hand. Her curiosity yet fastens upon a bounty hunter fallen to a strange fever — a man who was a tailor by trade and a prolific hunter of monsters besides, last set to a perilous errand against a Vampire Cult. Neither doctors nor imams could rouse him; he lay long insensible, and had passed only from a total stupor to some faint stirring of movement. Hano owns her fear that his condition answers to something graver than mere sickness, being well aware of the supernatural forces at play, and she granted a company of adventurers the privacy to weigh the affair among themselves.
As a patron she commands respect for her mastery of the monster-hunter's craft. She keeps an establishment where she appraises the trophies adventurers bring her and pays them out in gold and enchanted arms for their pains. When one such company arrived bearing the corpse of an albasti, she voiced a hearty approval — they had surpassed her expectations — and rewarded them with five-and-twenty gold pieces and a Handaxe +1. She bade them carry her good word to Ahra "the Wolf", a leader of the Janissary, a sign of the connexions and the standing she enjoys; and she gave them shrewd counsel for the navigating of the Undercity, warning them against dropping her name, lest it swell the prices asked of them. Her pragmatic temper bespeaks a deep understanding of the adventurer's lot, and a great store of local lore besides — the meaning of such a figure as the Ghost of March not least among it.
Beyond her traffic with adventurers, Hano bears a considerable part in settling the disturbances at a Cemetery. Her knowledge of supernatural matters is plain: she showed herself much impressed on receiving a certain creature's body from Sidra al-Najjar and Ahmet Yusuf, and in recognition of their work in laying the evil spirits to rest she rewarded them with a Silver Yatagan, a set of thirty Silver-Tipped Throwing Knives, and two hundred gold. When Sidra and Ahmet came to her home with the body, she confirmed their success and enquired after their use of ranged arms, curious as to their capabilities and the manner of their late encounter; and their talk of rewards done, she declared herself well satisfied with all they had contributed, a key figure in the running battle against the supernatural threats that vex the city.
Hano is, moreover, a broker of bounties within the undercity, at the head of a network that numbers an assistant named Yusuf. On one occasion she showed a lively curiosity at a great bundle borne in to her, wondering aloud whether it held an entire body or else a head of remarkable size, and voicing both her admiration and her bafflement at its bulk. To Sidra al-Najjar she handed over a bag of two hundred gold and a scroll bearing two castings of the Exorcise Genie spell, in payment of a bounty — for she is well accustomed to the handling of strange and perilous goods. She spoke of consulting her inventory, a sign that she keeps many bounties, and perhaps other enchanted wares, at once; and her office as broker turns upon the exchange of goods and services proper to the underworld, the magical artifacts and the intelligence alike.
