Susanna is an elven woman of youthful seeming, likely no more than her early twenties. She is caught up in doings that touch the spectral horses, and was seen to work a necrotic debilitation upon one of the Green team's phantom mounts in a stolen moment. She was observed whispering to Chique Manu, a bookmaker — a hint of collusion in the business of the chariot races. During a race at the Hippodrome she was marked by Sidra al-Najjar, who kept to the shadows to avoid notice; Sidra carried word of Susanna's doings to her companions, judging her engaged in something secret and, it may be, harmful to the spectral horses. After the race Jean-Zera Mongé sought an introduction to her, which Chique Manu undertook to arrange.
More lately Susanna has been made out as a fixer of the racing set, present at the Spectral Hippodrome. In converse with Jean-Zera Mongé she made light of the promises of Chique Manu and counselled Jean-Zera against meddling with the races. She chuckled and pursed her lips as she spoke. When Jean-Zera asked for time with a faceless ghost, she owned how hard a thing it is to draw anything from the ghostly riders, who are of no talkative disposition. She pressed the need for Jean-Zera to keep clear — protective, plainly, of the workings of the course — and, their talk done, offered him employment, saying Chique Manu would be in touch to see a new race arranged.
In a separate discovery, the bones of an elven woman, taken to be Susanna, were found alongside the skeleton of a human male in a cell, attended by a spellbook, a note, and two healing potions. From the note and what lay about it the two were known for lovers out of Justinian's time, the man having laboured upon a spell meant to preserve Susanna from her own unnatural physiology. The recovered spellbook held such spells as Disguise Self, Shield, Magic Missile, and Silent Image.
