The Bound Casket is an empty coffer with its chains broken, standing in a chamber that once bore wards of some strength, as the runic figures about it attest. It is thought to have held remains of a dangerous kind, and to have been made for the containment of something perilous. The ghost of Radu the Handsome gives out that the casket concerns the remains of his brother, who was bound within it and was never wholly still.
After the destruction of a vampire the party looked the casket over, confirming it empty and its chains fallen away. A jinn bound up with Sidra al-Najjar owned itself relieved to find no lingering threat, allowing that the coffer's first purpose had been to hold off a greater evil. The casket and its broken chains suggest it stood as a safeguard against the vampire's return or resurrection — a study, one might say, in the twin arts of containment and release.
