The Shrine to John III Sobieski is a chamber given over to the memory of the King of Poland, that same monarch whose horse turned the tide beneath the walls of Vienna against the arms of the Turk. It is kept in fine repair, and displays within a case of glass a karabela Saber, set about with lions carved in stone and a Malkoç Family Banner — this last the token of an old coaching family. The whole breathes a settled reverence for Sobieski and the weight of his place in the histories.
Yet it is a room of memory rather than of worship, and no arcane virtue was discovered upon the objects gathered there. It adjoins a Private Library, whose shelves hold treatises upon the art of war and further relics drawn from the storied past of that country.
