The tiefling proprietor known as Sif stands some six feet in height, with facial features markedly other than human. At the first meeting Sif is curt and unwelcoming, and downright rude to newcomers; yet with those clients toward whom a rapport has been established, they will readily fall into conversation. Sif keeps a cramped shop styled "Sif's Books and Manuscripts," and deals in the rare-book trade within the Undercity.
Sif first has dealings with Jean-Zera Mongé, who came to treat for the sale of a book. Cool at the outset, Sif bade Jean-Zera return to speak further once their persistence and their interest had been remarked — a plain shift from a curt reception to a willingness to parley.
More lately Sif sold a volume to Chique Manu, a wealthy bookmaker, and is held in some regard for their expertise within that community. In converse with Gizem Faruki, Sif pronounced Chique Manu a "chicken," which is to betray a poor opinion of the buyer. Sif gave out news of the Undercity besides, naming the Styx Bathhouse and the Misty Pond as places well suited to one's ease and to the making of useful acquaintance. Sif would keep every transaction plain and straight, and shuns all mingling — a temper as businesslike as it is unsentimental.
