Ward-Marked Door

The Ward-Marked Door is a formidable structure of steel, graven with intricate runes that answer to those upon a casket close by. It stands within a Ruin, and was likely meant as a barrier against threats from within. It wants any common handle or lock, which argues that it opens only by magical means; and when so roused it rises into the ceiling with a shuddering motion and gives out a booming voice in thick Turkish, which bespeaks some guardian or sentinel bound to its magic.

Upon the opening of the Ward-Marked Door, a chamber was disclosed, and with it four undead guardians summoned to its defence: a Varangian Guard wielding a greataxe, a Janissary armed with a tüfek and a yatagan, a Mounted Warrior with war-pick and kite shield, and a grenadier in the Persian style bearing a spear and a grenade. These were in the end overcome by a mingling of spell and stroke, and their arms and armour gathered up. The door's magical nature and the strife that ensued alike mark its office as a barrier of moment within the Ruin, binding its guardians to the ancient measures of protection yet standing there.
