Ermeydani is an underground fighting-ground where no weapons are borne, famed for its heavy betting and its clamorous sporting air. Sidra al-Najjar of late mapped the undercity and marked out Ermeydani as a notable station within the pleasure-quarter that gathers about the Leaky Pit — that explosive arts district, frequented by visitors of the upper class come to enjoy its several performances and diversions. Ermeydani stands apart as a place where any man may take part or look on, and adds its share to the lively and open humour of the undercity.
