The Banished Angels is a clandestine stronghold in the Kasimpasha District, a quarter of no very savoury reputation. Its entrance is a plain door marked with faint Arabic letters, tucked in a narrow alley amidst a clutter of shops. Within run long hallways broken by many doors — one giving onto an armoury of no mean collection — dimly lit by torches and a single gas lantern, whilst stone steps descend into the deeper parts of the place.
The stronghold serves as a meeting-ground for the remnants of the Janissaries, led by Ahra "the Wolf", who labours to rebuild their strength whilst treading warily through the underworld of Constantinople.
