Arraf Tavern lies in the Undercity, reached by way of Nazif's Scents in the Grand Bazaar. It boasts a stage, oft dressed in flowers, upon which a human-seeming singer named Kore performs; carpets adorn the interior, and the house draws a mingled clientele — tieflings, half-orcs, half-elves — that mirrors the diversity of the Undercity itself. Over fresh bread and stew the patrons fall to discoursing upon faith and belonging whilst they take their food and drink.
The tavern serves as a gathering-place for those in search of community and understanding, as the talk of faith and inclusion for the non-human folk attests. It is a social hub for such as have no entry to the upper city, where the political weather and the knitting-together of the several communities are freely debated; the burden of the conversation falls upon safety, freedom of movement, and the preserving of the Undercity's own spaces. A mingling of tongues and dialects amongst the patrons enriches the lively air of the place.
Kore, the singer of the house, furnishes introductions and a shrewd sense of the local currents. She makes occasional mention of Alemdar, though she is careful to add that no formal tie of patronage binds them.
